Suddenly finding herself overwhelmed she flees from Milwaukee and retreated her family farm on Nagawauke seeking comfort with her younger sister, her nieces, as she came to see the old homestead, as a refuge, she continued to carry her trouble with her, Later year she loses everything, including the disappearance of her sister, later finding her drowning beneath the lice that cover the lake,

She was happy to hear that her husband was coming home from the great war., wounded and troubled, himself he found himself knowing that Amanda is taking charge of carrying for Ruth and with taking control of the farm too.

Consuming the responsibility of fighting intensity, wry, and guarded. And be able to tell her story of her family in careful doses. Where she could hide the anxious from herself and the secret of her own pasted and the night.

Ruth was haunted by her memories that fateful night. Growing up under the watchful eyes of her aunt. Was aware of the old events of her childhood.

Everyone has something from there past that they want to forget, in so many ways. Drowning Ruth reminds me of my family that has many dark secrets that no one knows. You find yourself drowning in your emotional state of mind. Trying to find comfort in here sibling to help. But no one hears your voice.

I rate it 4 stars,  I read it and it was an enjoyable read.
